Women's Crew To Go Varsity
"The women's rowing program at the University of Rochester, which has operated as a club sport for more than 20 years, will be raised to varsity intercollegiate status beginning in the 2009-2010 academic year.
"I am excited to announce that women's rowing will become our 23rd varsity sport," said George VanderZwaag , the University's Director of Athletics and Recreation. "This is a club program with a strong history at the University. We have a terrific rowing venue on the Genesee River. We feel fortunate to have the University's support in adding to our varsity program offerings in this way."
